Indigo Block Printed Rug in Brown Multi
A rug made from organic kala cotton and handwoven in Kuchchh. Composed from various wood blocks using mud resist printing and overdyed in natural indigo.
- 4 x 6 ft
The block print is inspired by Mark Rothko’s revolutionary paintings. Using the rug as an art canvas, a clever overlay of the block and resist-block prints is applied, a technique used for Ajrakh printing.
Kala cotton is indigenous to Kachchh and by default organic, as the farmers do not use any pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. It is a purely rain-fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests.
Note: It is advisable to wash this rug separately and not expose it to direct sunlight as it could lead to variation in color. Color bleeding is normal in naturally dyed textiles in the initial washes after which the colors stabilize. The fading and bleeding of the natural dyes result in graceful fades with the passage of time.
