The skill of hand-knitting was passed down to Maiken by her Mother and Grandmother in the countryside of Denmark. When Maiken’s two children were born the inspiration for WILDROOTZ was created. Using secondhand raw denim, Maiken re-creates jeans by carefully re-patterning each pair by hand at her studio in Brooklyn, New York. At the core of WILDROOTZ is the urge to use re-purposed materials, reduce waste, and be a true sustainable streetwear brand.
